When I was young I had a really good story on tape about the three little pigs. It started off 'Pig and his two friends, pig and pig, lived on the thirty-ninth floor of a tower block...' and it went on to have the wolf inviting the third pigs to do things like go to the orchard and the fair but pig always outsmarted him. Two lines I particularly remember are 'I say, Pig, awfully sorry and all that..' and 'that monster was me in my milk churn.'
Unfortunately that tape was destroyed in a fire and I can't find one anywhere. I want it for my preschoolers. Do you know where I can find it or have it yourself and could type out the words for me? I just can't find it and it is such a good version of the story.
Yes and no answers are not appreciated. If you are going to answer, please give me the whole lot of information.

I have never heard of this version but it sounds like it would be a really good one. Even better than the old one I know. Good luck and I will check back to see if anyone gave you the correct name and wasn't as rude as the person who answered first.

Wish I could help you but I don't know that one, however a really good three little pigs story is The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs.
I honestly loved reading this to my story time kids..and they wanted to hear it every week.
synopsis.
In this gaily newfangled version of a classic tale, Scieszka and Smith ( Flying Jake ) argue in favor of the villain, transforming the story of the three little pigs into a playfully suspicious, rather arch account of innocence beleaguered. Quoth the wolf: "I don't know how this whole Big Bad Wolf thing got started, but it's all wrong." According to his first-person testimony, the wolf went visiting the pigs in search of a neighborly cup of sugar; he implies that had the first two happened to build more durable homes and the third kept a civil tongue in his head, the wolf's helpless sneezes wouldn't have toppled them. As for his casual consumption of the pigs, the wolf defends it breezily ("It seemed like a shame to leave a perfectly good ham dinner lying there in the straw") and claims cops and reporters "framed" him. Smith's highly imaginative watercolors eschew realism, further updating the tale, though some may find their urbane stylization and intentionally static quality mystifyingly adult. Designed with uncommon flair, this alternative fable is both fetching and glib. Ages 3-8.

How about this story, called "The Three Little Pigs"?
It is in a section of The Baldwin Project website called "Nursery Tales told to the Children" by Amy Steedman.
It mentions an orchard, turnips, a milk-churn, and a monster.
It may be the one you're looking for.
It starts:
There was once an old mother pig who had three little pigs. Now the three little pigs grew so fast that the old mother pig thought it was time they should go out into the world to earn their own living. So one day she called them all together and told them what they must do.
"My dear children," she said, "it is quite time you left off saying, 'Wee, wee, wee,' and learned to say, 'Umph, umph, umph,' as I do. You will never learn to be grown-up at home, so you must go away and seek your fortunes."
Also I have just found the book "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs" by Jon Scieszka ($7.99) [£5.99] who also wrote "The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales" ($13.20) [£6.99] {or both together for £10.38} via amazon's UK and US websites.
