I only smoke maybe 3-4 a day unless I am out with friends.

From what you are all saying I really do need to quit.

No. For health reasons I can't be around second hand smoke at all, so as long as they respected me and didn't smoke around me at all or have the scent of cigs all over there cloths, or ashes everywhere.. well i'd be fine with it.

I dunno about putting people off, but I recently quit after a brief stay in hospital, where of course I wasn't able to smoke at all, anywhere. I'd been at it for almost 40 years and had never been able to stop. I've also noticed a huge improvement in my appetite, I've started to eat breakfast, I've not eaten brekky regularly since I was at school, and the house smells better too!
I've been told that it'll benefit my health in the long term, and it really wasn't that hard to stop. So I'm definitely going to stay off them and am now proud to call myself a "non smoker" and I would thoroughly recommend anyone out there that smokes to seriously consider kicking the dirty AND EXPENSIVE habit while you still can. Think of the things you'll be able to do with the money you no longer set fire to! That should be incentive enough, it was for me!
My wife never smoked, it don't think my smoking put her off me, though I think it's becoming more anti-sociable, especially in company. Sorry it's off track a little, but I wanted to get that out ;-)

I dislike guys that smoke. My mother is a smoker and it really disgusts me and it makes get headaches. The worst thing of all is that I'm an asthmatic and I can't breath half of time but that's only when I am sick. Yes put off smoking. It can kill you and cause serious health problems later in life.

Yes, it would be like kissing an ash tray not to mention all the coughing and spluttering smokers do...

Also, if I stayed with you long term, I'd have to care for you through all the smoking related ailments that you would begin to suffer from and would probably have to watch you go through a lot of suffering. I would also probably suffer from the effects of passive smoking as would any children we might have.

Sorry but I couldn't inflict that on myself.

I do not like anyone who smokes as it is an indication these days that they have no control over their activity and puts them in the category similiar to drinking and drugs and gambling etc. Usually smoking is done by people who are termed "low class" as most people agree it is a bad habit.
i do not like the smell on the clothing or in the general area of smokers. I have attended meetings where people go outside to smoke and then return and smell of the smoke sitting next to me.

I clean,professional appearance always wins "stars' with people. Try to use a smoking patch to decrease your need to smoke and try to chew "sugarless gum'" often.

Very much so. It tastes bad when kissing and just makes you smell bad in general. Also, it may signal dependency on unhealthy outside sources for stress management, which may be a sign of other issues. Also, thinking about a smoker's health in the future is a turn off 'cause I don't want to be caring for the person when they didn't have to do it to themselves. It's also a turn off 'cause if you think about having kids with a smoker, you don't want the kids looking at that behavior as acceptable. Also, I think about the money commitment and that's a turn off 'cause there's probably better things it can be spent on. In general it's a turn off 'cause I want to be with someone who cares more about theirself. So, all in all...yes, it's a turn off. Hope I wasn't too harsh :o)

I smoke so it doesn't bother me if a guy does. I did once try to give up and noticed that ppl who do smoke really do smell like a mucky ash-tray, but then i started again anyway!! My chap doesn't smoke and he never complains about me smoking or stinking cos its me he loves and my bad habits dont put him off!!

I don't smoke but i don't let that stop me from getting to know people just because they do. Anyway you are trying to quit so that is a good thing

if a person smokes and is cool with smoking, then i'm sure they wouldn't mind you smoking...although being a NON-SMOKER, it sucks having to be around and kissing a smoker. that smell just doesn't fade, even if you brush your teeth afterwards.
Yes, personally, i would be turned off by the fact that you smoke...
sorry = (
