First, they will look at your payment record to see if all payments were on time and not late. Then they will re-check your credit bureau rating and get a fresh report as to any new debts that may be listed therein. They may also ask for your current earnings to see if they have increased commensurate with the higher amount you are requesting and may well, (Not always) check with your bank for any NSF's or other problems encountered by them. Finally, they may check with your employer to ensure you are still gainfully employed.

The first thing they look at is your payment history for the credit card in the past 6 months. As long as you pay your credit card bill on time, you should be fine

Over the limit has nthing to do with it. I was 200$ over my limit once and they approved me for a 2000$ increase

Payment history and income. Mosy credit card companies have a policy to review you for credit line increase after 6 months of on time / more than minimum payments.

Here is some additional info. Hope this helps.

The company will make sure that you have been making your payments on time and you haven't gone over your limit, etc. They will probably pull your credit again and maybe check income/employment.

They will look at your history on the account to see if your payments were timely, and make sure you didn't go over the limit, and also how long you've had your account open.
