I'm giving my spouse Photoshop CS2 for her birthday present. I'm told Photoshop One-on-One (O'Reilly) is the best tutorial. Anyone have a different opinion...and why?

An instructional book is a great idea! There's a new one out called "Perfect Digital Photography". It is exceptional. Written by Jay Kinghorn and Jay Dickman, two National geographic photographers. I have a bunch of books on the subject, and this one has been the most helpful. There's also a lot of help on the web. Forums on popphoto.com, mpix.com etc. Also good-tutorials.com.

As a graduating student in photography, focusing in digital. I suggest "Adobe CS2: Classroom in a Book" it was written by the people that design and work on Photoshop and work for Adobe. It is very simple to read and understand, and comes with a tutorial cd.

When my daughter starting doing Photoshop I went to a bookstore and asked the same question to the staff there. All of them recommended the same book to me. Photoshop for Dummies. Seriously. The book was great and really helped her a lot. It was about $40 dollars though. A bit pricey but worth it.
