I just broke up with my girl friend and she wants to commit suicide. I am worried about her and want to do what ever I can to not make that happen.

First of all you have to tell her that you take her threats seriously. Tell her that if she really is serious you will have to do the following because you care about her:
1. Call her parent(s)
2. Call her principal or teacher.
3. Call 911 to have them come and take her to the hospital

When someone is just so upset that they just feel like they want to die versus actually wanting to kill themselves, the outlining of the calm facts of what will happen usually helps them identify that they aren't gonna "do'' anything they just feel that way.
By the way do your duty as per the steps above but dont' get sucked into being the one to sit with her in the hospital, or watching her. That is what she wants.
If you two are able to communicate well you might want to offer her the words that she really doesn't want to kill herself but only feels like dying as a solution to the pain of losing you. Tell her of course that you aren't worth that happening!!
Involving a third party like an adult/friend/professional allows them to get a dispassionate report from her, versus the fact that when she talks to you she is going to be the most upset.

Good luck. And whatever happens it isn't your fault.

First off if she made the threat that she is going to kill herself you have to take it in stride that you also just broke up with her. Many people say this after being let go frmo a relationship. If she starts mentioning plans of how she is going to do it, giving things away, and/or actually attempting it you could call 911 and explain the situation. If you are in school together you coudl alert the principal and guidance counselors to this. If ya got the strength to do it, you may even want to address her parents as to what she has said. I know it is a rough situation right now, but if she is serious and you know about it, you do not want it on your head if she follows through.

Even if it is an empty threat, you MUST take action. Call 911, take her to the ER (even though you just broke up), call her parents. Do something!
