People might convert to Christianity by seeing how the prophecies of the Old Testament are fulfilled in the New Testament, but that requires a lot more education that most people care for. Still, I can tell you that the OT changed my view of Christianity. Before reading it, I always saw the religion as very dichotimized, with the OT God light years away from the NT God. Having read it, I now realize that's not true. There's a lot more of a loving God in the OT than people usually give credit for. Likewise, the NT God is frequently harsher than Christians would care to admit. It's given me a much more unified, clearer perspective.

The Old Testament version of God has changed people lives. The Ten Commandments come from the Old Testament. Without the Old Testament there would be no New Testament. Remember too, that Jesus was a Jew and lived as a Jew. For many millennium the Jews have been waiting for the restoration of Israel. Whether Israel has been totally restored is a question of theological and political debated. What can not be be denied is: ISRAEL EXISTS NOW!!!

With regard to your question regarding conversions to Christianity because of anything written in the Old Testament:: CONSIDER: The Messianic Prophecies (which were fulfilled by Jesus) The Day of Pentecost fulfilled the prophecy spoken of by the prophet Joel. (Acts 2:16-18)

The old testament did not have the same transforming power like the NT. It's like this the OT only refurbished the old man the New Teastament bring to being a totally new man. There miracle of the cross is yet to be understood by many because the church to a great degree has reverted to OT teaching. The warranty packet required the total replacement of the old man in the new we are new creatures. With the nature and life of God our minds just need to be renewed to this reality.

I wouldn't think that the old testament alone would be enough to change a person, but the Spirit of the Lord and other words of God, especially in the New Testament, would. The old Testament is more of a history lesson.

I don't know if they do, or not. But, I converted to Judaism because of it. It says that G-d is One, and there is no G-d but G-d. I learned to love the history of my adopted people and their relationship with G-d, and their move forward, generation to generation, trying to bring a better world for all.

Of course. Fear motivates. Then truth is revealed or discovered, encouraging the one who was afraid or superstitious.
