There is no rule written in stone that the man has to be older than the women. In old times, it was that way because the people died at an earlier age and it was common for an old man (i.e. mid to late 30's or early 40's) to marry a woman who was in her early teens. As people started living longer, then that rule basically went out the window. I know a lot of couples where the woman is older than the man. It is still common for the man to be older, but it is not completely unheard of for the woman to be older. Also, the fact that there is just a 2 year age difference, there is nothing wrong with that. I say, if you love her enough that you want to marry her, then you should not worry about what other people say. All that matters is the love you have for each other and if you are fine with the age difference, then there is no problem at all.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. This stems back from a long time ago when men were generally considered the bread winners of the family. It made sense because the longer a guy was working, the more money he had in order to help support the family. By the time he was ready to marry, most women his age or older were probably either seeing someone else or they were married. It was a natural progression.
Also, men mature at a much slower rate than women, so a woman that is a few years younger than her mate could relate to him much better than if the guy was younger than the girl. This is more or less the reason why the tradition holds true.

It's just tradition -it's not a rule.
If you look back through time - women have always bee married fairly young - generally as soon as they were able to have children. The main reaons being that their young bodies were better suited for the trails of pregnancy and labor - which with today's medical advances, is not a concern any more.
Men, on the other hand, would wait to get married until they could afford to have a farm/home of their own to raise a family in. This meant that mean who were in the position to get married were generally older then the women who were ready to get married.
So, it's just an old tradition more then anything. Many couple now are close in age or have women older then men:)

That's silly. It doesn't matter. A man shouldn't necessarily be older, for any reason. One reason girls in their 20's marry older guys by a couple years, is the usual maturity level of someone 2-3 years older. A 23 year old woman might be a bit more mature than a 23 year old man...but that's not always true either.
So do what you want, 2 years is nothing. And congratulations!!

there is no prob. i know a couple who is married for the past 20 year and the wife is 4 years older to the husband. She is even at a more senior position as compared to the husband.
Marriage is about trust, love, friendship and not age....
its just that u both should love regardless of the age... go ahead... best of luck friend...

Naturally a female become more old in young age and mentally more matured than a man. Socially, if boy is 5 to 10 years more old, the mental maturity of both would be more adequate. If woman is elder, husband would be treated more affectionately and the respect he deserves in Socitety. Woman makes good home and man makes good country in society and social life. (May be old saying, but village life that is more harmonious with nature).

It's just more common for the guy to be older. If there is an age difference of like 20 years, that is fairly odd. My fiance is 8 years older than me and we get along better than any guy I've ever dated my age! With only two years difference, it isn't so bad. People may look down upon it, but it's just because it's not common.

2 years is not a problem. 10 years may be a problem. Nothing to do with child bearing if the woman conceives below 40 years. The risk is higher after 40 thats all, more monitoring etc etc.
Male (20) Female (30) - Still OK
Male (30) Female (40) - She will begin to look it
Male (40) Female (50) - She will definitely begin to look it
Weak example but I think you should get the idea. 2 years???!!! What's da problem? NO PROBLEM!!

Woman are faster to old age.May be due to pregnancy etc. But this is fact. Moreover when wrinkles are there on the body of a woman no bady is interested in them. After the stop of monthly process woman are less interested in sex. While man are in need of sex upto 70 to 80 years. Moreover sex with younger girls keep them young and energetic. They have interest in life till they are sexually strong.Otherwise man become old as and when errection is not there. A difference of 10 year will keep them in control and escape them from social evils. An older lady can teach you something special but after all one will feel bore with her .

My wife is 3 years older than me. Her mother is 13 years older than her husband. There is no rule/law saying the man must be older. It all goes back to arranged marriages when you're setting up an 16 years old girl and a 30 year old man. People tend to think if the man is older he is already more established and therefore can provide better for his young bride.
