He almost drown in the ocean - and he said he begged and prayed to God to save him- and if God did- he would live his life in devotion to Him. When God washed him ashore he began studying Islam, and converted soon after. Not he records Islamic songs and makes videos explaining his previous life as a rock star, and his road toward Islam. When a person converts, they change their name to an Islamic name- my first name used to be Siara, now it is Sara, a name of Islam (abraham's wife)...

Because Muslim converts want to show other Muslims how devout they are by rejecting many things associated with their past.
