There would not be a MLK day without Veterans. Veterans day and memorial day are taking for granted!!!

“Every day is Veterans Day at the Fort Taber Military Museum. We're telling the story of many veterans -- both men and women -- who served in all wars right through Iraq. We have pictures and artifacts brought in by veterans of many wars.” - Donald Moss “This Veterans Day our nation will honor the brave men and women who have served our country in the military ensuring many of the freedoms we enjoy each day. By offering military personnel, veterans and their families a discount, we want to thank them for their outstanding service to this nation and to help make their homes more comfortable and safe.” - Bob Nardelli “We have a Veterans Day and Memorial Day, but we don't have a day for the troops that are fighting right now.” - Alexandra McGregor “This is my 19th Veterans Day Program and I hope to come to many more. However, I am running out of grandchildren.” - Bernard Thompson

My kids get Veteran's day off. But then again, there are 2 military bases in town.

At the other post, they got a 4 day weekend for Veteran's day. Those were DOD schools.

Mine also get President's day - which is unusual I think - cause I remember they used to go to school for President's day but not MLK day.

Not all schools are like that. It depends to some extent what state you live in. It depends even more on the local school district. In my town even the town Gov't shuts down in observence of Veteran's Day. This year it was on a Saturday so they closed on Friday. Even the library did and this isn't a military town except for our National Guard unit. They just got back from Iraq a few weeks ago. Thanks Guys & Gals !!!!!

Mlk day is sort of crap compared to veterans day. The veteran is the reason why we are what we are today and a lot more people have died trying to protect this country and for our right to be free. No disrespect to MLK in anyway but for real let open our eyes...and show some support for those whom served in the armed forces.

NO!!! It should be more important. The schools have a fall
break where Veterans Day is included in it.

not sure, guess cause Martin was a "baby killer" as most people call them. Which isnt right to call the soldier, but thats the only reason I could come up with. What I dont understand is why we EVER celebrate Christopher Columbus Day. I do think Martin day IS just as Important as Vetrans day.

I think both are very important. Some school districts have a "fall holiday" which covers this day and Election Day.

Because Memorial Day when we honor the War dead is much more meaningful.
