I have been best friends with a gay man for 5 years, we have an intensely close relationship and he means everything to me. Yesterday I found out he has started seeing and sleeping with a woman. I feel hurt and very confused..can anyone explain this madness to me? Should I just let him go, be happy ...what?

Sounds like there is a lot more going on than just being 'good friends' with this guy.
Ask yourself this... 'why the intense reaction?' From here it looks like you have more feelings for him than you're letting on. Are you jealous of the new lover? Why?
Maybe now is a good time to get a bit of space between the two of you, and you can work out your feelings and decide how you want to proceed with the friendship.

Why do you feel hurt? I thought he's your best friend. Are you afraid he won't be your friend anymore since he found a girl friend? You should be happy for him. But I do think too, that if he's truely gay, that relationship with the woman won't last.

I don't understand what the problem is. Why can't you be friends with him? Why do you have to let him go? It sounds to me like you were harbouring some less than platonic feelings for him?? If that's the case, maybe a little distance to adjust is a good idea but don't 'let him go' as you say. You're still his friend. If he is still your friend, be happy for him and be there for him.

It sounds like you may be jealous of this. Do you have feeling for this man(more then friends). Just be happy for him at least he is with a woman now.

If he truly is your best friend be happy for him. If he is truly gay...then it won't last, and when he is feeling hurt and confused he will need you to be there for him.
Sometimes its better to be friends only....adding benefits is not always a good thing.

Why are you hurt? Because you think he should be sleeping with you? I don't wish to sound harsh but it seems to me that you should be asking questions of yourself rather than this guy.

he's your te so be there for him. he's happy. nothing should change for you. he's proberly decided being gay isn't for him or he could even be bi. i surgest you talk it through with him.
