is there a french cheese equivalent to halloumi?

I cannot seem to get halloumi cheese in france, and miss it in a number of vegetarian dishes.

I believe that there is, just taste all the cheeses that have a similar physical and aromatic appearance- you may find the answer and start enjoying the nostalgic vegetarian dishes that you so long for and crave.
