Buy a color with ash in it. You can also mix baking soda with shampoo and wash your hair with it and it will pull some of the orange out.

Plain and simple......... you used a color that could not lift the correct amount and you are stuck in a pre-lightened stage.
If you cannot go to a salon then I could suggest trying to use the same color that you used before on it to get you even lighter......... or a color that has more LIFT to lighten to what you want.......
The color shades that they show on the box that tell you what you are going to get is not precise....... it usually ends up darker then the picture says because:
a) People did not choose the correct color for the amount of lift/lightening they need.
b) some hair is a bit stronger than normal and may have more darker pigments that the ammonia & lightener in the product cant lift up..
c) Did you already have a previous color in your hair???? Because COLOR cannot LIFT permanent color out of the hair.......... and some semi or demi products have compounds that stick to the hair and will not lighten up at all.......
The orange you see is "underprocessed" and you need something stronger than you can't buy in a store.
Baking soda and shampoo will NOT lift the orange out of the hair as stated in one of the answers to your question.
My best advise is to make an appt and have a consultation done with a pro stylist and see what they can do for you........ if you cant afford to go and get it done at a salon, then maybe they can direct to you something you "could" do at home, although most will not give up their advice for free...........or tell you to use this / that .......etc.................maybe try a beauty school????
DONT use any kind of lighter/stripper/bleach at home....... you will end up in a bigger mess and have dryer hair....... and it will be more pricey in the long run .
Dont be a "kit-tician".......... no home haircoloring.....................

You used a golden blond color didn't you? You girls. Go get a level 7 ash blond from a beauty supply and 30 volume peroxide. You may also find a color additive to counteract unwanted pigments. Apply the color to your hair while staying off the root. If it goes there. Hot roots, not pretty! leave it on for 20 minutes then put it on the roots for another 15 minutes you should be good to go. You don't need to strip your hair. You didn't go far enough the first time to acheive the color you wanted this will get you there.

I think lemon juice (of fresh lemons) brightens hair.. Try that, leave it in for some minutes and then wash out. Bleached hair always looks more orange at first, because it's hard to get rid of all the red pigments in the hair. This will go away after a couple of weeks...

Personally, I would forget the blonde and get a dark colour to cover it while it grows out. This has happened to me before, except I ended up with grey hair (!) the best thing to do is get a dark brown or black and completely cover it. Then give your hair a chance to recover from all the dyeing before you try and put a lightener in again. Good Luck.

Obviously you have a lot of red in your hair. That could be attributed to the product that you used or the nature of your hair. My recommendation is that you should use brands like Loreal Excellence or Garnier Nutrisse. These are the only gentle hair colors that do not create a reddish tone. If you have red in your hair by nature, the only people who could get rid of it is the professional hairdressers.

Try a frosting kit. It puts many different colors of blonde back into your hair and the orange won't be noticed.

since you can't go to a salon, then go to the store & get a natural match hair color. if you want dirty blonde, get a light brown color, with no peroxide in it.
