A Jehovah's Witness could properly listen to so-called "Christmas tunes" if it were incidental to some other activity.

While Jehovah's Witnesses are true Christians, their research persuades them that Christmas does not celebrate Christ; it celebrates the pagan Saturnalia.

Jesus was not even born in December. Nearly all so-called Christmas customs dishonor Christ.

By contrast, it's tragic that the one holiday Christ actually *DID* ask Christians to commemorate is entirely ignored by almost all of Christendom. It is, of course, the Memorial of Christ's death, sometimes called "the Last Supper" or "the Lord's Evening Meal".

(1 Corinthians 11:23-25, NWT) The Lord Jesus in the night in which he was going to be handed over took a loaf... Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 25 He did likewise respecting the cup.. Keep doing this... in remembrance of me.”

(1 Cor 11:24, 25, NEB) "Do this as a memorial of me.”

Christ Jesus himself personally celebrated and explained the significance of that Last Supper to his followers (see Matthew 26:26-29). Christians who commemorate the Last Supper have done so on the same Jewish calendar date as Jesus did, Nisan 14, which generally falls between late March and mid-April. Interestingly, Christians in the centuries immediately after Christ's impalement were sometimes called "Quartodecimans" which literally mean "Fourteen-ers", because the early Christians were well-known for this true holy day.

How would Jesus feel to learn that the holiday he commanded was widely ignored, while his so-called followers chose to celebrate a pagan false god and their own traditions of men? We don't need to wonder.

(Matthew 15:6-9) You have made the word of God invalid because of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you when he said, 8 ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.’”

I'm assuming that you would know the answer to your question if you have been a jehovah's witness for some time. The answer would be no. Witnesses to not have any part with Christmas and that would include listening to Christmas music. I know with the time of year it's on everywhere but if the music is around you that you can control like a car radio or your own stereo you should probably change the channel.

I imagine that you're not a witnesses, otherwise you would know who to be asking, and it wouldn't be someone on here. Out of 195 question, this is only your second question regarding religion of any kind. Mostly, they address boys, than race relations, and than politics. Not exactly a pattern for a witness. You may be in a witness family, but like my brother, you are not baptized or truly following it.

As for listening to Christmas tunes, this is an issue not just faced by JWs. There is some very good music that was favored by the Nazis, but is not played because of that.

The Christmas songs are very good, but there are choices to be made as to the right and wrong of songs that promote man made holidays not in keeping with the Bible. The same issue is faced by JW youths whose friends listen to certain types of music, such as rap songs that promote violence.

Ultimately, it is your choice to make. At age 14, you are just entering the the age of understanding. Make use of that developing ability. Do the research and learn what is right and wrong about the music and the holidays they represent.

If you think you are old enough to decide for yourself, remember, Christ was not mature enough to leave home until he was 30. Click on my image and go to my Yahoo! 360 page. You will find a pie chart there. Save it to your computer and print it. Show it to your parents.

it is ok and what if you go into some place that plays Christmas tunes. Run out of the store screaming. Just because you don't believe in Christmas, dosen't mean you can't enjoy some music.

Why don't you honestly read the Bible and see what it has to say? Forget other sources of religious instruction and only believe the Bible. It's the one thing that doesn't change. You'll find that through the death of Christ he has freed us from the law and we are no longer obliged to follow a strict set of rules like the ones in the Old Testament.

Galatians 3:23-26

23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus

Why don't you re-evaluate your faith? Read the Bible, see what it says about Christ and salvation, and find the freedom that He offers?
