Certain foods can help the receptors in your brain as well as giving "good fuel" to the body. Eating lots of sweets and junk food slows down the metabolism rate which slows us down. Eating foods high in complex carbs gives the body good fuel that will last longer. Eating citrus fruits speeds up the rate that other foods are metabolized by the body. and so on and so on

Yes, some foods can improve your mood. And when I don't get enough good food but do get too much sugary stuff I tend to be an emotional basketcase.

Chocolate has been shown to give a bit of a rush- in moderation. And almost everyone has a 'comfort food'- that is, something that they can eat and feel better. I'm not sure if this is all 'real' or if we're seeing a placebo effect. But if it works, I'm not going to knock it!

Most everyone will offer you a story of a chocolate 'rush' or 'high'. The theory is that certain food substances alter the function of the hypothalamus or raise the level of serotonin (supposedly the mechanism of chocolate) in the central nervous system. The claim is that such changes provide mood 'elevation' or stabalization - and although definitive data is suspect - I do not know - it certainly seems true. Perhaps that is why we all get a bit love crazed on Valentine's Day.

Food changes the chemical balances in your body which in changes your moods. When I eat three nutritious meals a day I have energy and I feel easy going.Other days I skip meals and by the third day I am tired and miserable and cranky and lethargic. I then eat a bowl of soup or cheese and crackers and my energy is back up and I am smiling. It seems for me smaller meals more often help level out my moods more than 3 big meals.like crackers and peanut butter, soup, grilled cheese, tacos etc.I try to eat my main meal( The big one) in the afternoon, This gives me time to walk off the calories and not go to bed and gain weight. I eat a small snack at night as a meal, like pepperoni, cheese and crackers or fruit etc.

Yes it is true, sad but true. Sometimes people have nothing, and when get something it makes a very big impact on their lives. For thankgiving I delivered baskets to poor single mothers living in the Section 8 housing. The baskets were filled with potatoes, turkey, yams and all that good yummy stuff. They were thrilled that they got the food. If we didn't deliver the baskets they may have a had nothing or little to eat for the Holiday. Now they have food for quite a while...

Yes, it's true. Certain foods produce endorphins - the "happy" hormone which, like the name suggests, do lift your mood. They also relieve pain.

I guess the best example would be during "that time of the month" - women will eat their favourite comfort foods (chocolate's usually the hot favourite =P). It does work, and you can feel much, much better after munching on them sometimes.

Yes. that's the whole point of comfort food. Chocolate makes me feel happy because it releases endorphins in my body. This is from experience. When I'm upset about something, and I grab a chocolate bar, I feel better. However, the results are only temporary.

Dear
You know that If Belley is full, words are few.
That means if you eat more you can not do things in a better way.But if you do not eat then your sensation power goes down day by day.

So food is the only thing to improve your sense power. It may be water or otherthing.

Absolutely. For me the best mood enhancing food is watermelon on a hot day. Try to stay sad when you eat that on a hot day, I bet you can't.
