i have had alot of anxiety from alot of different things, from sitting at school to just watching tv but i have noticed that when my boyfriend comes to see me they are not as serious as they usualy are. i dont see him often so since he lives 2 hourse away could my anxiety be from being lonely or from not having him there with me.. im having problems controlling my anxiety and now it has gottin to the point were when i start to feel dizzy i feel sick. not sure if its from having bad thoughts in my head but i have tried meditation, deep breathing, and just trying to calm down but none of them seem to work. i bought candels and none still work. anyone that is going through the same thing please tell me some kind of alternative rather then getting medicine...

Thanx....

Obviously you feel safe and comfortable around your boyfriend. If you can't see him face-to-face as much as you'd like, perhaps you could call him when you start to feel anxious. If that's not an option, you may wanna find a friend that you feel really close to, one that helps cheer you up and distract you from all the bad things you're feeling.

Keeping a journal is another way to let stuff off your chest. Just write your thoughts and feelings down when you're starting to get anxious (not necessarily right then and there, later on when you can is coolbeans, too), as well as the exact thing that triggers your anxiety, and it may help you work out exactly what it is that may be affecting you and how you can help resolve it.

I have anxiety/panic disorder and I am on medication. However, their are things that you can do to help without medication..

Exercise is key, it produces endorphins that will help you to feel better in general. Just a little bit or exercise will go a long way.

Their are foods that can also help..
Turkey is great
Chamomile tea is also great at relaxing you.. at first it doesn't taste the greatest but add a bit of sweetener and it tastes great.

Their are a lot of over the counter "herbal" things that you can take. Just be careful when doing so and ask your Dr. first. Most are not regulated by the FDA and can interact with certain other meds.

You may also benefit from some behavior therapy. A therapist can give you tools to help you to deal with the anxiety.

Good Luck to you!

I would suggest identifying your "triggers" first. Write them down if you need to. Just pay close attention to what is going on around you when you start to feel the intense anxiety. Sometimes if you can identify certain environmental triggers that cause you to feel anxious, you can begin to either eliminate them or cope with them in a positive way. If "sitting at school" is a trigger, try to determine exactly what it is about school that is causing you to feel anxious, then go from there and think of ways to reduce that stress.

Try running or some other form of very hard physical exercise. Exercise until your heart is just pounding and your lungs feel like they're going to explode, then stretch and take a nice warm shower. That makes your body produce endorphins, which give you the "warm fuzzies" and make you feel better.

I commend you for not turning to medication. Medication is just a bandaid - it doesn't cure the problem, and it can lead to addiction. Good for you!
