If you can actually define average these days...
Anyway, when dividing the total number of households in last census by number of children in last census, you get about 2.5.
That's really the "mean". Not sure how useful it is in describing today's families.

Yeah stats show 2.5 kids per average household. Would hate to be the 1/2 however. Ha!

The Average now is 2 to 3.. In the 1930 and 1940's they were having 10 to 13 maybe even more.. Seems like alot compared to today..

My husband and I have two kids. The world's population is shrinking, so there are about 1.8 kids per 2 adults (except for in Africa.) However, among those in America who elect to have kids at all (without factoring in child free couples), there are probably 2 per family, maybe three.

According to statisitics, 2.5 children per household. I think that means two kids and a dog (or cat or fish).

Two and a half. I and all of my friends have three. We prefer whole kids :)
