there were some african american men at a strip club in new york and I guess the police were doing some kind of under cover operation with unmarked police cars and anyway the men were there for a bachelor party and when they left the club as they were getting in the car one of the undercover officers claims he heard them say go and get my gun. So when the men pulled away from the curb the police open fired. Firing 50 shots into the car killing the driver and critically injuring the other two men the man who was killed was the groom he was getting married the next day. By the way no weapon was found on the men or anywhere in the vehicle. Comments? What do you think really happened?

yes mr. cooper if these men had been white I would have put in that they were. In my opinon this was racially motivated and how very sad at this day in age.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn. The sad part is this happens all the time, i.e, mistaken identity. My baby brother is NYPD and tells me plenty of stories. If the cops were watching the strip club and these three "fit the description" of the targets, the police could misconstrue anything they did as threatening.

The scariest part of the story is this is not an isolated incident. The only reason news services picked it up is because one of the victims was getting married that day. That fact adds to the sensationalism, thereby helping to sell newspapers.

As my grandfather always says, "I'm disappointed but not surprised!"

(CBS/AP) Police in New York City say the fatal shooting outside of a club stemmed from an undercover operation inside the building.

Police are not releasing many details because the investigation had not been completed, but one official says officers were "observing a group" that later got into a confrontation with back-up officers outside.

Police say five of the seven officers at the scene fired shots, leaving two people injured and killing a groom to-be, Sean Bell, on his wedding day as they were leaving a bachelor party.

The two officers who did not fire have been questioned by police.

The shooting has drawn angry protests from family members and the Reverend Al Sharpton.

The intersection where the shooting occurred was blocked off this afternoon as police inspected a car and a minivan and placed dozens of crime scene markers on the ground where shell casings had been found.

The shooting happened just after 4 a.m. around 143-39 95th Ave. in the Jamaica section of Queens, near Club Kalua, said Officer Kathleen Price, a police department spokeswoman.

The story said that the driver of the car hit one of the undercover police with the vehicle then put the car in reverse and slammed into an undercover van. The driver then aimed the car at the undercover policeman and the police started shooting. Before the driver hit the cop in the first place the cop was wearing his badge outside his shirt hanging off of his neck. The driver had a criminal record including drugs and gun possession. One of the other people in the car had an even worse record. It may not be a justified shooting in the end, but it looks justified at this point.

Why did you add "African-American? Do you believe it adds to the merit of the story? Would you have said "white" if he was white?

A human is a human, and while a very sad event occurred, NOT EVERY person killed by a cop is done so because of the color of his or her skin. Let's wait until the police conduct their investigation (and most likely the family files a criminal case) before we decide who's at fault. It's quite possible they DID hit (or almost hit) the police officer with their car.

This is truely unbelievable - I visited New York two weeks ago and found the city to be safe, police almost on every corner.

I too would like to know the exact facts before commenting fully.

It is indeed a serious incident - tragic, and possibly criminal.

They are still sorting out the facts.
