I would absolutely love to visit Ireland one day. Can anybody give me some tips about saving on cost or cheapest way to visit Ireland? I know about hostels and going in the off season. Anything else?

I just got back from there and made plenty of mistakes...here you go....Best ways to save...

--Don't take taxis (the bus system is very efficient in dublin)
--Use ATM's sparingly and take out lots of money each time (the conversion fees from your bank are probably murder)
--Stay in a hostel, if you can
--Try not to drink alot (I spent alot of money on pints and whiskey...drink one day, take the next two off. It'll do wonders for your head and your wallet)
--Do your research about doing things that are free (but don't restrict yourself based solely on that...plenty of museums are free, but it's definitely worthwhile to check out the Guinness storeroom which is about 14 euro)
--Don't eat in restaurants or takeaway....pub food is a little cheaper if you order the right stuff, and food you get from a grocer is the cheapest, though I'm not sure if you want to eat granola your whole trip...
--hotels are usually cheaper during the winter months, but the weather is absolute **** and many days get ruined because you ccan't see anything at all....but you will save a lot of money, like I did
--don't get arrested (just kidding)
--lastly, don't think of euros as monopoly money...I know it sounds dumb, but you're not really used to this new weird money and none of it seems real as you watch it go out of your wallet and into the till....but it's real money, don't forget it. But don't get me wrong...don't let money prevent you from having a good time. I spent about twice as much money I wanted to when I went there, but I had an absolute blast, and it was well worth it. Anyway, enjoy your trip brother.

The biggest way to save is to stay out of the cities except for day visits. Bed and Breakfasts and hostels are everywhere and a great way to see the country and meet the people. Food is cheaper outside the cities, the room is cheaper.

You could hitch-hike, especially anywhere in the country (outside of Dublin). It is still ok to do this in Ireland and can be great fun as in you will definately meet interesting people. If you are female I would not do it alone. People in Ireland gererally like tourists and like picking them up for the chat and a "bit of crack". It will take you longer to get around the place and the weather might annoy you but it is worth a chance. Also Ryanair offer really cheap filghts to Ireland from various destinations in Europe: http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/

In August of 2008, I spent properly over 5,000 American funds, which consists of flight and B & B places in only 2 weeks. I also took a prepare from Cobh to Dublin: $sixty 5 Euros, notwithstanding it replaced into worth it. i did not carry adequate funds for the conversion from funds to Euros and then to sterlings for England. Your minimum should be $6,000, in my humble view. because you're backpacking, it is going to be extra low-cost and nutrition is do-ablem value-smart in case you decrease your visits to eating places and evaluate Sentra markets and stick with Hostels. As for places to visit, everywhere you visit will be a sensible selection. I had an outstanding time in Blarney, Cobh, Dublin's Grafton highway and Trinity college. I were given success in Cobh after I attached with a pair from Holland and we visited Youghal and various cities alongside the way; they were very cordial and that i imagine you'll have effortless opportunities to affix rides from human beings and stay over nite in a cottage. stay away from cab rides as they're commonly severe priced; I paid 60 Euro, one way. My airline, through ways, replaced into $4,four hundred. Cork city is tremendous yet stay away from ordering something from a cafe that's no longer an area style. in case you visit Cobh, see the White renowned human being line historic landmarks/cemetery (Lusitania, and so on) and grab a mind-blowing hand-crafted pie on the Cobh Bakery, good deal. Tip: beware of the severe value of AA batteries once you've digicam..it is going to kill your bidget.. wish this permits....
