Yeah, I'd say you're overdoing it a little. I'm all about dessert and make a point to have a small treat after dinner but twice a day and the amount you're eating (1/4 cup of m&ms is 240 calories, four servings plus three cookies a day is exceeding most people's daily intakes).
Too much sugar really is bad for your overall health. It can ruin your pancreas, your adrenal glands, and it can throw your endocrine system off. Scientists have found that sugar is addictive and has the same effects in the brain as heroin. You'll get cavities, it can cause diabetes, and increases fatigue and PMS symptoms. I'd really start cutting back

you have to decide if it's worth it to drastically change your lifestyle if you want to lose weight. and you have to decide if you can do it without your husband's support. is he overweight, too? perhaps one of the reasons he doesn't want you to change your eating patterns is because it would make him feel insecure if you lost weight and he didn't. the two of you need to have a serious talk about this, or your marriage could be in jeopardy. explain to him that you want both of you to be healthier so that you can be together and enjoy life together for a long time. basically, you HAVE to cut out all that sugar. sugar is just empty calories that add up quickly and leave you feeling unsatisfied because they don't nourish your body. switch to diet soda, asap. also, eating out a lot makes it hard to eat right. but when you do eat out, skip the appetizer, drink water, and order a lean protein (chicken or fish, for example) with vegetables. have a salad, too, with a light dressing. you must eat breakfast to lose weight. when you wake up, have a bowl of whole grain cereal (oatmeal, total, etc.). have some fruit for a snack midmorning. have a light lunch. have another healthy snack (fruit, yogurt, etc.) before dinner, and a healthy dinner. if you want dessert, make some sugar free jello or get sugar free fudgsicles (they're actually pretty good). lastly, you have to move everyday. ease yourself into it. you don't have to run out and join a gym now. start like this: this week, walk once around the block everyday. next week, add another lap. continue until you feel that you're ready for something more strenuous. getting started is the hardest part. it also really helps if you have a "buddy" to lose weight or exercise with. do you have a friend or coworker that wants to lose weight, too, that could be a support system for you if your husband won't? good luck! One more thing: If you're African-American (as it looks from your avatar) you have a significantly higher risk of getting diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and cancer than other racial and ethnic groups. A poor diet and no exercise only makes these problems worse!

Well you are getting a lot of sugar...but not knowing you, there are too many factors to take into consideration's before making a decision for you. My brother can eat any and everything and never gain an ounce, where as my sister and I so much as 'look' at sweets and we gain a pound! Although what you describe doesn't sound all that bad to me...have an M&M (or two) for me! ;)

It's not bad to eat something sweet after a meal. To be honest it is better for you to eat something sweet after a meal. The sweet tells your body to stop eating, but what your eating is not healthy at all. You have to choose 1 of the three, will it be the latte? will it be the m&m's? or will it be the cookies? it's not what you eat that will hurt you, it's the quantity of food that hurts. I know this because I lost 140 lbs......

If you have a high metabolism you might get away with this for awhile, later on though you will pay the price by having a lot of serious health issues..I did the same thing, thinking I could always snack, snack ,and snack..!5 years later ...Obesity..high blood pressure...high cholesterol...DIABETES. Wish I had stayed on the healthy trail..I didn't so now I have to really watch everything I do or I get very sick.....medicines,. exercise, believe me if I could turn back the clock and undo the damage I have done to my body by being STUPID..I would do everything the HEALTHY WAY....I am now Taking 4 insulin shots daily, and am on lots of different meds. for my BP, My Cholesterol.Heart meds. etc..SO..if I were you..I'd give them up and focus on healthy eating habit and exercise...Lana

Yes. If you are overweight, this is the reason, and this means you are elligible for diabetes, heart problems, thyreoid problems, etc. If you are not overweight, it means you don't eat enough of the other food, which your body needs (protein, dairies, salads, etc).
