When a person out grows a relationship, and feels that the things that were once fine, are no longer enough anymore, and they feel that they want different things in life....should they stay in the relationship and be unhappy, just because their partner wants them to stay, and cant bear it if they leave, or should they be honest with themselves, and leave?......

Dont doubt your choices, be honest with yourself and him. Sadly you will eventually have to leave or make him leave. In long term (years) relationships its never easy to part. A major key in life partners seems to be a combination of wants, needs, and compatibility. usually your wants and/or your connections can be manipulated for you to settle for something. Your needs the core of who you are and where your going is what is really driving this thought. not "wanting different things in life" in my opinion its "needing different things in life"
Some people need basic things and some need to fullfill their dreams..its different for everyone
What you want is to stay withem.. but what you need is ???
dont make yourself unhappy, dont stay for pity, dont stay in a relationship that has no direction. dont let people change who they are for you...or you for them.
Its your life take it where you want :)

Sounds like an good S&M fest that I'm left out of. I'd beg to go but you would know I'm only putting on an act. Now slap me a little harder..

Couldn't the two of you make your relationship grow? Talking to each othere and make the changes that would keep you there. s people get older there wants and needs change and a relationship has to be able to change with you. If you can't make this happen with this relationship you can't think that changing partners is going to make a difference. You will be fine for a while and then it will start all over again.

It would be dishonest to yourself and to your partner if you were to stay in the relationship out of pity for their feelings. You would always be wondering 'what if?' and you would come to resent them eventually.
If the relationship is over for you, then it's time to move on. The person you leave will soon find their way forward in life, hard though it may seem at the time.

Don't leave him immediately, you can always leave when you feel that he has more or less come to term that you no longer loves him, show patience for old time sake as you did love him in the past.. give him time to accept the fact about your change. Be kind, but at the same time be yourself, show him how you felt about him now. Unless he becomes aggressive if not give it more time then leave when he is done with self pity.

This is a hard one. But if you are sure that this no longer makes you happy and never will. Then its time to move on. Why spend your life unhappy.

being honest is always the best move in life. if you have respect to yourself you should just walk away. the one left behind will face the truth anyhow...

I think you already know the answer to this one, don't you? If you feel it's time to move on then you need to do that. You can't live your life to please someone else, you have to fulfill your own destiny.
