Basic training is easy and hard at the same time. A lot of people make it. I think from our class of about 300 we only had 8 not make it. It's easy in the fact that you are always busy, you never have to wonder what to do, except on some Sundays, and you don;t have to worry about too much. It's hard in the fact that there's a lot of physical and mental stuff going on. You are always on the move, top speed, never stop. And the mental part is the Drill Sergeant's trying to break you down. But they have to break you down to build you up. Once you have completed basic training, they don't treat you like a private any more. But a soldier.
Basic training for the Army is teaching you to be the most basic soldier in the Army. The Infantryman. On a basic level the Infantryman/woman must be able to shoot, move, and communicate at the same time. There's a lot of other things they have to know, but that's the just of it. And the Army's most basic unit is two Infantrymen/women. Always have a battle buddy with you.

It's tough enough to weed out the obvious mis-fits, so no, not everyone passes. Those that do make it through basic can look forward to school for advanced training, and travel to a lot of interesting places.( I spent a year in the Mediterranean and three years in Hawaii). You also can earn college credits while on duty, and have the chance to leave the military with a degree. I believe all Americans should serve their country in some form, whether it is military, state, or community service. Good luck!

Basic training isn't as hard anymore as it used to be. No, not everyone passes, but you have to be pretty lame not to. The way I saw it, you're either with the program, or you're not. I can tell if a guy is going to pass basic training by five minutes with him. Some require more effort than others, but it is the responsibility of the drill instructor or RDC to turn a recruit into a competent member of the military. Boot camp is harder for some than others, but most of it has to do with a mental attitude than physical fitness. They can make you physically fit quite easily, but it's much more difficult to instill a positive mental attitude into someone who doesn't want one.

It depends on what basic training your doing. My hubby passed his for the RAF but my friend didnt! It depends on you as a person. Just grit you're teeth and remember that the people yelling at you are just doing their job, they have to tear you down and make you feel worthless in order to build you back up. If you get through it though you'll feel on top of the world and soooooooooo proud of yourself!
Your basic training is where you learn the basics of being in the military, how to iron, how to march, basic combat, history of which ever service you've joined etc etc etc after that you'll have you trade training, just to learn how to do whatever job you've signed up for, with my hubby it was 14 months to learn everything about avionic s he needed (a technical job). Thats how it is in the UK anyway!

Basic training is rather elementary. It seems ruff when you are going thru the process but when it's all said and done everyone looks back and says "That wasn't so bad" - Basic is able to get rid of those who absolutely can't follow orders or do the most simple of tasks. Let's face it if you tell a person to fold his underwear in 6" squares and he can't, then do you really want them working on a airplane, tank, or having a gun? But 95% make it.

basic training is difficult if you are not prepared, so the best thing to do is if your thinking about going in, you should get physically fit and mentally too, because the drill sgts are going to be messing with your head.everyone does not pass, but they dont put you out, they just make you keep doing it until you pass or injure yourself, and they will send you home, but since the war there hasent been much of sending them home part.
goodluck whatever u decide

Basic training is the period of training when the military trains its people in the customs and courtesies of military life i.e.-to be a soldier, sailor, airman or marine. As far as how difficult it is has a lot yo do with what kind of shape your in. I was a scrawny farm boy from Wisconsin and actually gained weight in basic training.

Basic training is both physically and mentally very hard. It is designed to build you up physically - quickly and from a mental perceptive it is designed to break you individuality down so you are a supportive member of you military team because your life often depends upon what you buddy does in combat with you.

I thought that Basic Trng was soooo easy physically, but mentally it was kind of tough. You are going to have Drill Sergeants in your face yelling at you for stuff that you probably think is small or it doesnt matter. Do you know why? They try to break you down mentally to make you a stronger, tougher person, so that when you go to war you are a lil bit more ready. Noticed I said "lil", thats because you can never be totally ready for war. I have been in 10 yrs so far, and I love it!! I just think that the physical part is SUPER EASY! its almost IMPOSSIBLE to fail, specially now when we are at war. Now, some of the hardest Basic Combat Trng posts are Ft Benning, Ga, (Home of the Infantry :) , Ft Leonard Wood, MO ooohhh is cold as hell!! thats where I went. Ft Sill, OK, where I am going to next :( and Ft Knox, KY is another one! thats just a couple of them. The easiest of them all is Ft Jackson, SC, YOU CAN NOT FAIL IF YOU GO THERE! trust me, i was there! GOOD LUCK! is not that bad, if you are mentally strong.

Basic is really hard both physically and mentally. Everyone does *not* pass, they try and try really hard, to make everyone meet the qualifications, but it is possible to wash out, either on the physical side or on the mental/attitude. The military can't take someone who will not follow orders and endanger the rest of their unit.
