Does God aproves the killing of people?

[well...this question would be more for people that believe in the existence of God hehe...]
ok...first of all i know that the 10 conmmandments say that "You shall not kill", so...what about God sending you to kill, and I'm talking about the jews, after they left Egypt, they were guided by God to kill other people...bla bla bla...so..what makes them so different from people these days who use violence in the name of God against others? 0_o" I just dont get it...
God sended them to kill, but Jesus said that we should be compassive to others...anyways...
i want oppinions about this matter...anything would be helpful :D

Those whom God had killed were always wicked people who worshipped other gods and attacked his servants. God can read the heart and he determined that such wicked ones would never change. When he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, those people were committing gross immorality. God is just and you can be assured that if God destroyed anyone in Biblical times, they deserved the punishment they received.

ok ... first of all, the 10 commandmenst do not say "You shall not kill", it says, "You shall not commit murder."
God gives authority to men to kill on occasions. First of all in the Everlasting Covenant, which was made before the 10 commandments, and between God and all mankind, for all ages, God said in Genesis 9:6 "Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man. " That command preceeds and superceeds the 10 commandments by many years.
God also gives to human government the authority to go to war to put down evil, to defend, their people and to protect the innocent.
Some of the other commandments in the Old Law, such as people being put to death for prostitution etc, have not been carried into the New Testament.
The situation you mentioned about God sending the Israelites to kill the nation of the Amalekites who attacked them when they left Egypt, God sent King Saul to do it and told him to destroy everyone, men women, children, and even the animals. Saul did not do it, and he left some to live. If you look at the history of the Jewish nation you will see that Saul himself was later killed by an Amalekite, Hamaan in the book of Esther who tried to annialate the whole Jewish nation was a descendant of the King that Saul let live, and even in the time of Christ herod who sent out and killed all the babies under 2 years of age, was not Jewish, but was an Idemean, which was of the same line as Amalek.

Actually the correct translation from the original languages says that thou shalt not murder.
This murder can be committed in the mind also. The 10 commandments are there to let us know that we need a Savior. We all fall short of the glory of God. One of Jesus Christs titles is the GOD of the Armies.
God does not agree with violence in His name.

religeon, regardless of which one you believe, sun god, Zeus and apollo Greek gods, for the weak and people to lean on. There are two things that are real in our lives, good and evil, you can call them anything you wish, allah,God, Satin, devil, Buddah, Jim Jones, Hitler, Stand on your on two feet and be responsible for your own actions. Don't blame gods or the devils for good or bad, blame people. Religeon was invented to give people hope after the big death, just before you rot and the worms eat your flesh. It is necessary for some people to believe in the afterlife whether you will float up there somewhere, come back as a cow or snail, or enjoy virgins and lay around eating grapes.. I believe when you die, you are dead. Live a good life and enjoy now, not live today like you will be rewarded with virgins, sweet music, seeing all your friends, etc after death. I think it is one big long black nothing, no dreams,no music, just nothing. 10 commandments are the rules to live by, common rules to make everyone get along. Man made rules like don't kill unless in self defense(proven with a good lawyer), don't steal or you will go to jail, don't commit adultry, unless you can get away with it. Etc. Killing in the name of war is ok in the eyes of the government you are working for. U.S. is ok to kill Arabs,Japs,Germans,communists, or who ever threathenes us., Arabs is ok to kill anyone not beliving what they believe, Nazi is ok to kill Jews, Yankee troops is ok to kill Rebel or confederates in our own Civil war. The world is a crazy place and wars are here to keep the population down, to advance technology and medicines, and a great shot in the arm for some economies. This is life and there is nothing you or I can do about it. These are the ravings of an old mad man. Thanks for reading.

I'm not sure God sent them to kill. God usually did his own killing. He leveled cities and flooded the Earth. God created the universe in a blink of an eye and can end it that way. Why does God need puny man to do that!

It's difficult to understand... But if you read bible, yes, you have the 10 commandments, but you also may read the Leviticus where are explained the rules and the punishments, and most of them are death... most of Islamic punishments are there... so, apparently you cannot kill your neighbor, but if he has offended God in anyway, you cannot but you must kill him... It's supposed that after Christ all those old laws where revoked, but only for Christians, and in most cases as Crusades and Inquisition it was ignored...

God does not want us to take matters of vengance into our own hands and go out and kill lets say.... our neighbor because we did not like him. But God chooses the fight and only He says when it is ok to take another life. We are not to go out on our own and start killing.

What you just don't seem to get according to your post is the lack of respect you show for God. For He is more powerful than you are and you mock HIm. He will bring you to your knees along with all the rest of those who mock Him the way you are.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding

Psalms 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

God keeps His promises and that one will include you! Get some faith and put it to work, and allow the word of God to be opened up to You in God's time and not your own. We are not to question the instructions of God but obey His voice when He instructs us to do something.

i am a cristan jehovahs witness and it is NOT ok to kill.whhen adam and eve were sent out of the garden cain killed his brother(genises 4:6-12)god cursed at him and sent him away,so that means god hates people that kill,god thinks of life as pressies even if you are a sinner.but murder there is no forgiveness enless you change your life.
