She is very small, less than 1 pound, and sleeps alot! I am just wondering what is "average" for how long she should be sleeping.

Puppies are a lot like human babies. They need LOTS of sleep. It is very normal for her to sleep most the day. Puppies will usually eat and play a little in between, but they most often sleep. Their little bodies need all that rest so they can grow. Enjoy those weeks of sleeping . . . .soon it will turn into chewing! LOL! Congrats on the new puppy.

A 7 week old puppy will sleep 12 to 14 hours a day sometimes more. Don't worry your pup is just like a human baby she has a lot of growing to do.

A lot of sleep is normal for a 7 week old pup. My dogs or 5 and 7 and they sleep 75% of the time. About the only time they are awake is when it's time to eat, something exciting happening, or we are going somewhere.

A puppy that young and small should be sleeping a lot. Trust me in a little while you will wish she still slept all day =)

they sleep a long time since they r kids and need a lot of rest for their body
they generally sleep for 85% as my dog did
