go to www.webmd.com you have to know what type of hepatitis he has. a b or c.... c is contracted through blood or dirty needles and sometimes through sexual contact. tatooing with unsterile needles. if drinking is the thing that caused this he probaly has psorias of the liver also. c is very contagious, not real sure about the other two. good luck
If you have sexual relation with this person Ask your doctor to test you, they just take a bit of blood and in a few days give you the results and without insurance it only cost me around 80.00 or so. Tell them you want to be tested for all the hepitiuses.
Hepitius c is the only deadly one, mostly all hepitiuses are spread through sexual or blood contact. So if you or your guy have not had sexual contact with your stepdad not touched his blood and you clean your dishes between each use then you should be fine. Doctors just warn the family just to be certian.
As for sexual exposure - it is uncommon but can happen. New infection is usually diagnosed in 8 to 12 weeks.

Depends on what you do on your dates!! It is easily transmitted by sexual contact!
