The Holy Quran : Chapter: 24 (Al-Nur), Verse:36
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[24:36] God is the light of the heavens and the earth. His light is as if there were a lustrous niche, wherein is a lamp. The lamp is inside a glass-globe. The globe is, as it were, a glittering star. The lamp is lit from the oil of a blessed tree -an olive - neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil well-nigh would shine forth even though fire touched it not. Light upon light! The Lord guides to His light whomsoever He pleases. And God sets forth parables for men, and God knows all things full well.

Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. If the light you think you have is really darkness, how deep that darkness will be!

I agree with this, but I do not agree with Islam, I am Christian and I believe God is truely the light of the world, and without Him we are blind and dying in the darkness of hell.

And without "dark" would you recognize "light" if it were within your field of focus?
