ive been getting really bad pains right below my rib cage in the center of my stomach for about a year now. it use to happen like once every 3 or 4 months and olny last for a few hours but now im getting it twice a month and it last for up to 13 hours! it feels almost like a huge gas bubble, but if i burp, pass gas, or go to the bathroom it doesnt relieve the pain at all. not even vicoden helps. ive been to the doctor and been tested for gall stones, peptic ulcer disease and hiatal hernia . i am not overweight and i thought i have always ate pretty good. has anyone else ever had anything like this and what did you do to relieve the pain?

I think you are one of the Break fast skippers. So, eat something in the morning regularly that will solve your issue.

I had similar symptoms a few years ago, and after many tests, was finally diagnosed w/ Ulcerative Colitis . Have u had your stool tested or gone to a G.I. (specialist). You also might want to try going to WebMD. You can type in your symptoms there and get possible diagnosis's, ask questions to a doctor, or read other peoples posts( people who had the same problem as you and were able to get a diagnosis and ways to treat the problem). Hang in there.

It's really difficult to say without a physical examination or lab results because it could be almost anything. Chronic electrolyte imbalance or vitamin deficiency, an abdominal aneurysm, acidosis or alkalosis, or even a tumor. You'd need a huge work-up with new lab tests, a contrast C.T., and maybe even an endoscopy. Sometimes, you have to tell the Dr. what you want him/her to do.

My mother had similar problems years ago and it ended up being Kidney Cancer. She had bad pain and heart burn and for years they said it was notthing and then finally told her it was all in her head. They tested for gallbladder, hernias and ulcers. Finally, a CAT scan showed cancer. Think about seeing if you can get a CAT scan and ease your mind. Good Luck. By the way, she has been cancer free for 15 years this month - she had one kidney removed.

Go get another opinion, that is not normal. It could be a lot of other things and only a professional can tell.
