My oldest lover was 20 years older that me and my youngest was 7 years difference. I prefer 10 years older than me. I'm 39.

Being it is obvious that there is no maximum age limit for difference between partners in a fling,
I have determined that your question must be based on temporal age in the time space continuum
By this I have determined that anything more than a nano second difference would place them farther apart than the male organ, thereby making a fling impossible!

Umm i was seeing a guy who was 39 when i was 21 which is a gap of 18 years. i didn't think the age gap mattered at first but soon enough the cracks started to appear whilst i wanted to do all the things young girls do like clubbing all weekend and wild party's lol he wanted us to stay in or go away at weekends it was never going to work although it is a true saying that older men are far more experienced in that department lol. Anyway i dont think it matters as long as you have things in common and you are happy.

Uhm...I dated a 13 year old when I was 14...well, when I first started dating him I was 14 and he was 12....then he turned 13 and I remained 14. Now I'm with someone my age. He's 14 too, and he's only a month and 3 days older then me.

I don't usually date anyone in my age range. I usually go for guys who are at least 10 years younger than me (has been up to 12 years) or at least 10 years older than me (has been up to 21 years).
The different outlooks on life & the changes of pace make it all so worthwhile.

There really is no set limit either way. And, as you get older, the age differences seem to get wider. It varies for everyone.
But, in my experience, since I am 29, I try not to date any girls younger than 23 and no older than 35. This is because I don't want to be with someone that is too immature, nor do I want to be with someone that will treat me in a condescending way due to my age. In short, I don't want to be anyone's "daddy", nor do I want a "mama".

legally it depends what part of the world your in
personally it depends on your age
if the person your that you have in mind is over the age of say 13 or 14 a 3 yr gap is ok if you and the person are over 19 or 20 as long as your happy any gap is ok
