There are two issues here. Firstly when you went to Africa for your holiday unless you went off the beaten trail you would have been in a tourist area. Their the locals would have looked after you and smiled as you were providing vital foreign currency for them and their families. Even people who were not connected directly to the tourism sector would not bite the hand that fed them. This is no way disrespectful to your African hosts. They may well would have been welcoming anyway but one should look at the practical issues involved.
The next issue is the treatment of immigrants. People do get the impression that immigrants are coming here to take advantage of our health service/ social services etc. This is quite a logical view as if the move wasn't to benefit them in some way why would they do it. However I believe that on the whole we actually welcome people who are prepared to contribute and integrate into our culture. Where I live we have a Polish community who arrived after WW2 and have integrated well with the community. However people are much less welcoming to people they perceive as taking out rather than putting in. They also are not keen on queue jumpers who push their way into the country in an illegal manner and then expect resources to be allocated to them in the same way as those who have gone through the proper channels.
Finally some of the most unwelcoming people to newcomers are not those who have been here for a long time but those who have recently arrived themselves!

People are worried about the amount of immigrants that have been arriving in the last few years as the infrastructure is not in place to accommodate the people that want to live here plus the EU workers that suit the business world so well as it is keeping our wages down while greedy employers are coining it.
The housing, schools and health care is being stretched to capacity (I think we will be losing our national health very soon as we will follow the USA into more private care)
I have no problems with anyone wanting a better life and income for their families and I think this country has benefited from the wonderful mix of cultures that now live in the UK but we must slow it down to absorb the people that are here at the moment.
I don't think that most British are racist they are just concerns that our government is not replying to questions that taxpayers want answered.
About your holiday most countries welcome holiday makers because precisely that you were on holiday and bring much needed revenue into the country not asking for jobs homes schools or medical help.

I think the idea of immigration has run it's course and ultimately has shown to be more trouble than it's worth. Many countries have had nothing but trouble with immigrants who want to change traditions, break down beliefs and establish themselves as a governing body. The worst of course are illegal immigrants who flood into the country without any control or assimilation into the society. They only come to take from and breakdown the economy.
France belongs to the French, Germany to the Germans, Italy to Italians etc. When I go visit one of those countries I want it to be what it has always been not what is had been turned into by immigrants. Maybe the USA is the melting pot of the world with it's out of control immigration but I think it is becoming a nation of poverty and welfare because of it.

It's sad, you know, that the already uneducated people go off reading the racist crap they read in the Sun, the Mirror, the Express, the Mail and all other ar se paper, and having learned nothing, and how can you from these rags, they then come on here and splurge out these half ar sed idiot racist comments.
We are, however, safe in the knowledge that none of these idiots will ever reach higher than a rats ar se, which is their appointed level, or have the power to seriously employ their nasty ideas.

I even have labored for the comparable business corporation for occurring 11 years now. interior the previous 2 years they have began to hire unlawful immigrants at a low pay value, and have slowly weeded out a brilliant style of the better paid, experienced individuals. those individuals are solid workers, i will supply them that, however the way they thieve american jobs isn't precise. they'd artwork for much less high priced because of the fact they are right here illegally and don't pay taxes. So i could say that i understand a lot of them nicely. they are o.k. human beings, yet unlawful continues to be unlawful!

For me although I'm never rude to anyone (ish) I have a perfect reason, I could never and still can't get a council flat in England just because I was a white male without HIV or Kids, I had to live in B&B's with Romanians who all left for better accomadation whilst I had to work like a pig to pay rent for a damp bedsit. I left the country now so I'm the bloody foreigner.

Well in Ireland the racism towards immigrants is getting worse but i see both sides of the coin.I dont have a problem with immigrants in general its the organised crime element the Eastern European countries are bringing with them. The genuine immigrants who are willing to make the best of the higher wages ive no problem with and would never act badly towards them. But the killing, rape, fraud and general crime these gangs are bringing with them is unwelcome and is most likely why people have a problem with them.....In Ireland anyway

It is because of money. Americans and Brittans are known to have lots of money and will improve the economy, while illegal imigrants, like the Mexicans, have a poor economy, so they have a negative impact on the economy. They also are making some people go out of jobs, because they will work for so cheap.
