Depends on the outing, rule of thumb, can dress with about the same idea on the cloths that you are wearing but one extra layer. Bring extra cloths and shoe incase accident. Now that the weather is so unpredicible I would put a winter coat, hat, mittens, extra pair of shoes or boats, extra outfit. and a blanket in my car this way no matter where you are if it gets cold you are ready. My grandmother always said. If you have it with you and you need it your in luck. If you don't have it your ****out of luck and will be wishing you listened to me, So put your coat on now.

Pretty much the same as you would dress, maybe one extra layer if it is cold out.
