Bake a cake with a file in it and buy him the complete first season of "Prison Break".
There's not much more I can do, angel.
Good luck.

Prison or Jail, because there is a BIG difference. Jail is for persons not yet convicted of a crime and those serving less than one year, at least in NY. Jail sucks because they beat the crap out of you, there is no daily routine and nobody watches over the system. Prison on the other hand has its share of nightmares as well but at least the rules are a little more clear, for the inmate. Usually you buddy up with people from your own race or background, independents do exist but they live a solitary life and must always watch their backs. The younger you are the more of a target for rape you are. A lot of the time fighting is the best way to survive, just don't fight the same guy twice and don't really hurt him but hold your own. What you can do is write him encouraging letters of family and friends on the outside, remind him there is an outside beyond those walls. If you don't then he will become institutionalized. Prison will become his entire life and he'll forget about the real world. Get him a magazine subscription to a favorite magazine that's approved by the prison like popular mechanics or a car & driver, guys like that, encourage him to use the law library and get his education, you can get a college degree in prison, don't waste your time use it. Its bad but it doesn't have to be the end of the world

What do you do about what? You can't change the fact that your brother is in prison. So visit him whenever you are able.

Why is he there. How long will he be there. Figure out what you want and then think of him. depending on why he is there you may or may not be able to have a decent relationship with your brother. follow your heart and visit your brother.

What can you do?? He obviously did something to land him there, so he will need to suffer the consequences of his actions.
Learn from his mistakes. Lead a better life than he chose.
Write to him, visit him, love him and miss him. Pray that he straightens his life out. Besides that, there is nothing else you can do.
