A baby isn't a comodity that you can just go and get when you feel you want one! Being a single parent is tough. Would you really wnat to go through pregnancy, labour and being at home with a tiny infant alone?

Have you considered adopting?

Or getting a puppy?

Depends on where the sperm is from, ie is it a friend of yours or is it via a clinic. You would need to be sure that the sperm had been screened properly before implantation and that can only really be done by a clinic.

Then you would have to consider the father's rights. If they are anonymous and want to remain so, then fair enough. But what if they want contact with their child at some later date. Or what if the child wants to contact them. How would that be dealt with? Again, through a clinic, there is anonymity, if that's what you wants, and a degree of counselling on how to deal with these issues that you won't get by asking a friend to donate.

You would also need to think about what you will say to the child in the future about its father. The child will be bound to ask, especially once they start school. How will you approach this?

I think you need to give consideration to these points as well as the more practical considerations of raising a child possibly as a single parent and the financial and logitical implications of this on you before making as informed a decision as you can.

That would depend on your age. There are some women on here that think their body clocks are ticking at 25 which is ridiculous. I figure that if a woman is in her mid 30's and is financially independent, using a sperm donor can be considered.

Having a baby is serious.. But you are mentally stable and financially stable to have a child have one. But remember this that child is gonna want to know who its father is. And why the father isn't apart of its life. Are you really to answer those questions? Honestly, I think using a sperm donor is a good idea for those who aren't a relationship and want to have children.

I think that if you feel strong enough about having kids. Go for it but bringing up a child on your own is not that easy when you cannot hand them back. I have grown up not knowing my real father and when i was younger i imagined kind of a "super dad" when those images are broken the child feels broken too. if you think you can handle all of that go for it though.

Well, If you knew 100% that you weren't able to conceive and you had a stable relationship and life with someone and you know that you and your companion could give a baby 100% at life, then go ahead do it, a baby is a WONDERFUL gift from God.

It's certainly more ethical than finding some poor random guy to get you pregnant!
I think as long as you are prepared for the hard work, and you are honest with the child, it could work out fine.

IMHO it depends on what the motive is for having a baby. So long as you are genuinely wanting to create a human life to nurture and support, then go for it.

i would say it is a good thing to do but you have to think that if you end up into a relationship and you want a child with that partner then how will your child feel and when it grows up how are you going to explain who the childs father is but all in all i do think it is a good idea
