my friend started a rumor that i was dating one of my better friends now shes mad at me what should i say?

we are pretty good friends and havent had problems like this before

Just tell her it was a rumor, and that she should not be mad at you. If she's a good friend, she will understand. Rumors get started and can spiral out of control, unless you take care of them early on.

Tell her it was a silly rumour, get over it. Life is to short to worry about what other people say.
