Why do my ears get clogged when I have a cold?

Shouldn't only my nose be?

its because you eyes nose and throat are all connected by a series of tubes throughout the skull. thus if you have congestion in your nose and/or throat you can also get it in your ears.

The sinues are connected to the ear tubes. So that your cold or sinues can give you ear problems.

The eustachian tube is the tube connecting the middle ear cavity and the pharynx ,back of the throat,. It is opened when you coughing or swallowing, though it is normally closed. The occasional opening of the Eustachian tube is necessary to equalize the are in the middle ear cavity

When the turbinates (lining of the nose) swell the area around the opening of the eustacheon tube swells. When this inner ear pressure equalization tube is not able to open and close freely there is a change in pressure in the inner ear and this produces the sensation you refer to.
