You have an appointment with the old saw bones. That's a good start.

Since you are bound to get a dog, extra cleaning around the house to keep hair and dog dander to a minimum with regular bathing of said canine. If you're not already on some sort of allergy med perhaps your doctor can make a suggestion of something over the counter to start with.

You need to bath your dog in hypoallerginic shampoo every month for starters. Make sure your wife brushes the dog outside everyday to keep as much hair from floating around in your home. Keep the dog away from your face. Go to your doc and get on some allergie meds.

Bio-Allergens make a great Homeopathic meds for Pet Allergies. A few drops everyday works wonders for me. GNC, Whole Foods or health food store has it.
Bathe the dog every week with a mild dog shampoo I use "Crazy Dog" Puppy Shampoo. I have never had a problem with her skin & she is now 8 years old. Wash it's bedding too every 2 weeks(better every week)& Vac your house at least a week.
Feed it a good quality dog food(less skin & health problems) I use Nutro dry & can foods. My dog is in perfect health.
Do not sleep with your dog, it's dander with be in your bed, wrecking havoc with your allergies.
Enjoy your new puppy..I luv my dog.

That depends on how severe your allergies are.
I have alleriges and 4 pets. Once in a great while I have to pop a Bendryl or something, but for the most part I have gotten used to my pets I think.

I read in Dear Abby years ago...to wash the dog then rinse the dog in Downy Fabric Softener mixed with water. It really does help!
Also, a daily allergy pill will help, don't miss a day.
Lastly, wash your hands when you are done playing with the dog. The allergy symptoms really hit when you touch your eye area.
}
Good luck and enjoy the doggie!

We have a German Shepherd who also has allergies and our vet prescribed benadryl. She is suppose to take it 3 times a day but I only give it to her at night. It helps her sleep without scratching so much.
