That really depends on how you define 'strongest'.

If you mean pulling, the husky. They are the breed that pull dog sleds.

If you mean the strongest bite, a test was done on this. Rottie had the strongest bite, followed by the German Shepherd Dog, and then the Pit bull. These were the only three dogs tested though.

If you mean what dog would win a fight...probably a Pit Bull.
American Pit Bull Terrier is, pound for pound, the strongest breed of dog.

Strongest of pure mass, I'd go with English Mastiff

That's a good question. I think a bigger dog would be the strongest. Maybe the Irish Wolfhound or Mastiff. I would rather take on a small pit bull than a giant Mastiff. Yikes!

I would say a rare breed called a Argentino Dogo. Its only been around since the 30's and its just now getting popular in the states. It was breed by two brothers for big game hunting. It looks like a pit bull but twice the size and power. They can weight as much 120 for the males and lil less for the females. They get as tall ( i think) as a rott. I have two my male is almost 6years and my female is just about 5years.Purchased them in Italy, my male cost me $1200 and my female cost me $1500.You can look them up on net under Dogo Argentino or Argentine Dogo

Saints and Newfoundlands are the strongest pullers. Newfs are used also in water rescue because they can pull and swim. A good Saint can pull in excess of 3000lbs. Now if your asking about the bite. I believe Pitts take that honor. Not sure?

I had a 198 pound Rott and she was pretty strong. it depends if you mean strong bite or pulling. I know my Rott was one strong dog she had to wear 3 harnesses and I used a bull lead as a leash. this was to protect others. she snapped a wire cable like thread. but to me she was a big pussycat. a pitbull has the strongest jaws because the tighten their grip and will not let go. but my english bulldog has the strongest farts.

It may seem I am partial to pugs cuz I own 3, but I think the pugs are. (One of my males is a brut and could do some major damage if he ever wanted too cuz sometimes I have a hard time moving him, etc... when he bears his weight down). Also the pug motto is "multum in Parvo" which means " a lot of dog in a small space" (Big dog in small body!!) =)

Well my vote now is for the Bernese Mountain Dog. They're about the size of a Saint Bernard but not quite as bulky. I have one of these now, he's 2yrs old and can pull a house!

I don't know if there is actually a away to measure dog strength overall. There are to many factors. But the largest dog in the world was an english mastiff from England named Zorba de la Susa. He was 343 lbs and was 8 ft 3 in from nose to tail. Pics of him are hard to come by on the net but if you find one they are amazing!

I would think maybe a pit bull. But I have a German Shepherd who is very strong. And then the Siberian Huskey pulls sleds. Or it could be that dog on the beer commercials. He looks strong. Sorry I can't remember the breed name.

I would have to go with the pitbull. They have weight pulling contests and everything for them. They were breed to take down bulls. That's pretty strong.
