I just wondered as they must have somewhere but I've never seen one on any cat or kitten I've lived with.

Yes cats have an umbilical cord when they are little kitties in the womb, so they have belly buttons. It's there, it's just small and flat, not a dimple like a person's. You can find it if your cat is patient enough-- cradle her on her back, and look on her belly. It's a little ways behind the back of the ribcage, and it will just look like a little white scar. On some cats, esp long hairs, you can't find it without shaving the belly. It's easiest to see on a female when she has been shaved to be spayed, but males and females both have them. Good Luck!!

You betcha! Cats (and all mammals), being born from amnionic sacs, do posses an umbilical cord which forms the belly button. However, it doesn't look like a human belly button; more like a longish scar. Inspect your cat and you may find it, if you can get past the fur.

I'm pretty sure all mammals born from within a uterus have belly buttons, but you're right...I don't think I've seen one on my cat. Hmmm...I'm gonna look more closely when I get home....
