Water is the basic solvent in the nature .In its presence only the biochemical reactions takes place(like photosynthesis, respiration, fat metabolism)
Above all water gives turgidity to plants ,with out water plants will wilt and die, this is what happens when u do not water the plant for a long time

Plants are osmotrophic i.e. they use nurtients only when dissolved in water. Like all cells, plants too, carry out all the reactions in the medium of water. In addition plants are constantly losing water through a process known as transpiration, this force keeps suction.

they break down the contents of the water piece by piece and separate, store and manufacture other by-products of water, (tar, mud, exochondriatoims, etc).
contrary to popular studies, they do not actually require, or use water for survival....more like busy work for them to produce the wonderful things they do.
