someone i care for deeply has this illness and i just want to know what to expect. They have gone throught treatment before and since their kids are grown they see no reason to go through this stuff again. What I want to know is what will happen to them physically.

Stage 2 is simply one step away from the terminal stage 3. Stage 2 has more potential for responding to treatment than stage 3. Once a person reaches stage 3, the cancer has reached beyond the level of treatment. The next step is death. It's only a matter of time depending on the rate of the spreading cancer.

With liver cancer, the patient's body will begin to turn yellow such as the eyes, nails, skin, etc. Once this partakes, death is around the corner due to the failure of the liver.

Apparently your firend has had a rough battle with cancer and has decided to stop fighting. Many people find their peace and accept the inevitabiity of death. This is common amongst those who no longer have the strength to fight. Make their last days as comfortable and happy as possible.

weight loss
jaundice
extreme nausea and vomiting
itchy skin in the late stages of liver failure
pain in the abdomen
confusion in the late stages of liver failure because if high ammonia levels
very distended abdomen either with ascites or tumor burden
bleeding which is difficult to get stopped from the rectum, nose, skin or other places d/t very poor blood clotting ability.
I am sorry for your friend. Its very courageous for someone to opt not to go thru further treatment. Maybe hospice would be an option for them.

WITHOUT ANY TREATMENT THEY WILL WASTE AWAY AND DIE IN PAIN........OF COURSE, THAT COULD HAPPEN WITH TREATMENT ALSO. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES.
