Even an old dog can learn new tricks.
I suspect that fundamentalist Christians are on to this and this is the reason why many are aparently against public education which doesn't ceaselessly push their party line.
Why groups go off into cultic communities that exclude the world.
Why books & objected to theater presentations are banned.
The religionist game plan seems to be indoctrinate early, reinforce repeatedly, and exhort against listening to "false prophets".
Just in case the religionist might be tempted to to at least explore other
philosophical views, there is always the fear of hell held over their heads.
This is a very very potent game plan that any Madison Avenue Ad Agency would sanction for advancing a sales campaign.
It can only be countered by education using reasoned thought processes.
Well financed Fundamentalist evangelicals seek to counter educational
endeavors however by such ploys as trying to introduce so called
"intelligent design" into science classes.
We are involved in religious cultural warfare in my opinion and must be
vigilent.

I wish I could say yes. And I think many individuals can. But religion has always held a group mentality as well, seeking comfort in those with like beliefs for support. Which isn't a bad thing in and of itself, but it can quickly limit personal growth.

Could your fear of dogma actually be caused by dogma?
