Back in the dating game but the only single women I know are friend's ex's and my ex's friends, and I don't really wanna go there. Online dating really turns me off, it just seems awful, all that talk about long walks on the beach, yeck. But I'm curious if it has actually worked for anyone.

I'm very shy.. so I tried one of the dating services.. I personally would of never done it but I figured why not? I found a friend. Wasn't my type but we get along great. And you get to see a pic and talk to them before meeting them so it gives you a feel of them before you meet.. And if they are ugly.. you don't have to talk to them ever again. so it is a great way to scope the field before going on date after date.. spending money on some ugly girl/guy.. you know what I'm saying. And sometimes you can get a friend out of it.. :) So why not give it a try.. what do you have to lose?

Gotta say that i was in exactly the same position. So i tried a dating site after a girl at work had a good experience with one.
I've found that as long as you are honest in your answers and read any replies carefully then they are a good place to meet new people. Particularly if you are a certain age and can longer face the night club/bar dating scene.
They are lot more professional now and there does not seem to be the stigma attached to them like there used to be, well not here in the UK anyway.

I have been seriously thinking about joining a couple of net dating sites here in the U.K., but I guess I'm a bit fearful about the unexpected really...And also about the terms & conditions - like, if you want to quit can you get out easily etc

It worked for me but not straight away...Just do it safe and give things time i like it better than going out to the pub or nightclubs and having someone dribble in my ear just for sex.....and now i have found my soul mate on internet dating
