This may be a silly question but...Can I put it in the crock pot frozen and just cook it longer? or should I defrost it in the microwave first?

Yes, just throw it in the crockpot and cook it low and slow! That is the best way to do it....not to mention that you will get to keep the juices in the crock and it will make a great au ju or gravy!!!

I like browning all my meat before I cook it. So i would rub some beef in a mug all over it for flavouring then put in an uncovered roaster for 30 minutes in 400 oven , tranfer it to the crock pot, rinse the roaster with some water to get flavors to pour in crock pot. Put some sliced onions , some new unpeeled potatoes and seasoned water then cook on low all day.

That's the only way I cook my pot roast. Put the slow cooker on high. It always comes out so so tender when cooked frozen.

Put it in frozen if it will fit. If you thaw it you can brown it a little before putting it in the crock pot.
