You said to count the vowels, not the number of times they were used:
Including the question there are 5 vowels used: aeiou
Not including the question there are 4 vowels used: aeio

In the name Hayley, y is not actually used as a vowel. It is used at the end of a phonogram so the vowel will say it's name. In the first phonogram of ay, the y isn't necessary, it's just a spelling preference. In the second phonogram ey, the y is necessary. Otherwise the name would be spelled Hayle, and the pronunciation would be different.
