Adam and Eve also had daughters (Gen. 5:4) This means that Cain and Seth (Able was killed before reproducing) Married their own sisters. Also Adam and Eve had more sons than just Cain and Seth (says he had other sons and daughters) then if you look further into Genesis 5 it shows that every decendant after Adam had a main son who carries on the line...then many sons and daughters. this shows that many children were born and within just a few generations there would be enough people to expand the gene pool a bit. Yes...they inbred...BUT there were not a lot of genetic abnormalities etc then as there are now, so there wasn't the same problems with inbreeding as there is now. Abraham married his half sister and other people in the Bible married close relatives. This is no different than the royal family in England who continue to marry close relatives.

This question is a common question advanced by those who would attempt to undermine the Bible. I found this question addressed in a book of Bible Questions. The answer that was given was that Adam and Eve also had daughters, (these daughters were not mentioned in the scripture). The daughters were created in the same way that the sons were created.

Gen. 5:4 "And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters." Father to sons and daughters means there were others, probably just not quite as important as the main 3 sons mentioned.
It's not like the bible's going to go into detail on how many times Adam and Eve "copulated" and had babies. It say's Adam lived to be over 900 years old, I'm sure he had more than three kids in all that time.

The Bible says that Adam and Eve had sons and daughters. They interbred to have children. In the beginning God allowed this in order to start the human race and allow for a tight gene pool. Incest is no longer acceptable and the Bible prohibits it in the Book of Leviticus, chapter 20, I believe.

Adam and Eve had more children than the three sons mentioned in the Bible. The History Channel suggests ( as taboo as this is) that inbreeding occurred to give those three sons wives, and their children..etc.
