well if you stay up all night there really isint nothing you can do maybe set up a motion decter floodlight st scare them off
i have had some things stolen out of my car too and it dont matter if its locked they just broke the window so i was with 2 issues there: broken window and missing equiptment
i guess the best thing to do although it may be a bit of a pain put them on the roof :) or bring them in everynight.
chances are its some kids in the neighborhood abour 14-18 years of age they live close by, and frequently pass by your area

Creative offers very reasonably priced webcams that feature motion sensor and low light technology. If you can set up a computer within reach of a window that looks out on the front yard, you might consider this option. They also will notify you via cell phone or email if they capture anything. I had a neighbor who thought it was the funniest thing ever, to back over my mailbox everytime I reset it in concrete. Capturing this moron on video and printing still photos for him to view was even funnier.

You can try 2 things:
1. Put out a video camera when you go to bed (or whenever you think it is happening).
2. Put a motion sensor on your lawn that will alert you when someone enters your property.
However, many times for petty crimes such as these the offender(s) are never caught.

File a police report. At least that way you could perhaps make an insurance claim. Find a garage to park your car in or clean out the one you have so the car will fit. Think about a car alarm. It is a hassle, but also consider video surveillance.

You are hard pressed to catch them now since it is unlikely they will return if you bought new ones. If you wish to catch someone like this, set up a surveilence camera hooked to a vcr. They are inexpensive (100.00) and can be purchased at Sam's, Costco, etc.

I think it is time to move to a neighborhood with people who are not so envious (i.e.: Small town coastal Florida works for me).

implant a hidden GPS tracking device in the decorations. It will lead you--and the cops--right to the thief's house.
