I have trouble keeping food down--it comes and goes. I have had an upper GI and a colonoscopy and lots of blood work. Just wondering if these would also find out gall bladder problems as I am getting ready once again to tackle the doctor merry-go-round to find out what is wrong.

An upper GI visualizes the duodenum (proximal small bowel) into which the duct from the gall bladder (GB) empties but an UGI will not provide any useful information regarding the GB. The same is true of the colonoscopy. I tell medical students and residents that if they do not know the diagnosis before ordering the test they never will. Another round of doctors hardly seems productive - search out one good one - and they should have the diagnosis for you after a history, physical examination, and before the test. Good Luck.

I believe so. My daughter has been diagnosed with GERD and she had an upper GI also because she has gallstones. They chose not to do anything with the stones, which I find weird though. Gallstones were found as a result of the examination to her abdomen area, but the blood work also came back abnormal. Good luck.

You need to have an ultrasound done on your gallbladder. I had to have mine removed in 1998. I didn't feel alot of pain but it felt like something was moving in my stomach. Request that your Dr. does the unltrasound. That will show if you have stones or anything. Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!!!

Maybe the blood tests....but only if they are looking for that. I had to have an ultra sound done for mine. That will show it right away. It did mine. Good luck.....That was one of my symptoms, the not keeping food down. Also felt like I was having a heart attack. The pain would come and go, but it really felt like a heart attack and that is another common symptom.

No. Gallbladder problems would be detected with a Hida scan.

ugi and cscope would not rule this out. vomiting is not a common primary sign of gb disease however.
