All of this bickering makes me study Gods Word more, and helps me to grow closer to Him as a Christan. God is simple to understand. Accept Jesus and choose to live a beter life through him and emulate Christs love. Its not brainwashing its something I choose to do. I don't have to change a thing, God gives me the desire to change and learn. I have studied Islam and understand true Islam more and I choose to be a Christan. No big deal its what I choose to do. Why do we have to make it so difficult.

gieemonex you don't insult me at all. I felt the same way for a few years. I didn't accept Jesus until I was 30. I was raised a Catholic and blamed them. We can run but we can,t hide.

I am reminded of Mark Twain's statements: "Its not the parts of the Bible I don't understand that bother me, its the parts I do."
Often the Bible is so simple that we need help to misunderstand it.

If you get instulted easily, don't read this answer. You may not like it. But then again, the internet is for the posting and exchanging of information and various points of views. Something that many religions have a problem with. For me, "God" is not complicated. This supernatural being does not exist. Plain, simple and to the point. I believe that many of these religions take people for a ride. They tell people a fantastic story of how this being created all that is around us. And, according to myth, all of it in less than seven days (remember, he rested on the seventh day). Then they go on to say that a woman bore his child without her knowledge of who the father was (according to the Christian bible). Time to call them talk shows and give her a paternity test.
All I am saying here is that this god being is not complicated. I agree with you that many people make it so hard to comprehend. And certainly you have your point of views just like I have mine. I choose to not believe and my life has been really great. Everyone's life has its ups and downs. But that is life. You don't need some supernatural being and his son to tell you how to lead your life or to follow what they did in certain situations. Life is difficult whether you admit it or not. I don't consider religion "brainwashing", just farfetched. Kinda like those UFO people. They certainly believe that they have seen something and have been abducted. But we cast them off and don't believe them. How is that much different than religion? Both have experienced something that they can't explain, yet one people have created a religion, and the other we cast them off as crazy people. It just doesn't make sense to me. But then again, what if the opposite were true??

I'm not sure.
But I can tell you this....I was a Christian until I was 17, then became an Atheist. It seems that this piece of information baffles a lot of Christians, as I am POUNDED with emails trying to understand my decision. They try to convert me by asking philisophical questions and questions that no one knows the answers to in an attempt to "trick" me.
Why do people have to make religion such a big thing...let me make MY own decisions.
We will never know who is right and wrong. So let's just go about our business, and only spread our knowledge to the people who are interested in learning more about our thoughts...not just converting.

being an agnostic, i have no difficulties what so ever.
if you have your own beleifs in a God, why ask others opinions?
religion is all a matter of how you personally interpret the meaning... like poetry in a sence... you can derive your own person meaning and beleifs from how you read the words...
thinks often do get more difficult when they are over thinked though... Keats is a great poet... but once you start over analysing it, the poems lose all their beauty. Same with religion i guess...

Because in order to push it onto others it has to cover enough to convince them too. Perhaps you are easy to convince. Perhaps it's the Jesus-love that does it for you. For others it's the fear of Hell. Some people need a strong, convincing proof of the necessity of a god, so they create the Genesis story. That is how the concept develops and gets more complex.

God is beyond form. Therefore the word "God" is only a symbol which points toward the reality, which cannot be understood by the mind, but can only be felt.
God is not complicated. Human mind is. Therefore, the more we try to interpret God, the more complications evolve.

We don't have make it difficult. We simply choose to make it difficult. Some people are just stubborn and refuse to change and learn therefor making the path Christ has for them More difficult than it should be.
In order for a Christian to fully hear from God's word is to have an open heart and mind and have a main goal to hear from Him. Then it wouldn't be very difficult at all.

I strongly disagree: people make "God" too simple. They drag the essence of the divine down to their level and recreate "God" in their own image. Religions present "God" in simplistic morality plays, assigning to "God" human characteristics such as rage, capriciousness, spitefulness, jealousy, and so on. They think all there is to know about "God" is found in a collection of ancient documents written by ignorant, opinionated and very flawed men, and they believe this literally, thereby ignorantly and tragically limiting "God" to an existence as humanoid father figure.

Religion is a man made thing. You have to take certain bibles with a grain of salt. As the centuries have past man has changed it to fit their ways of thinking. Just keep to the basics and don't take the parables literally and you should be fine.

Their is a mystery to God the bible even says this it is not to understand Him but to love Him as our Father in heaven a little child does not always understand why parents do what they do and they question them just as we question God the mystery to God will be revealed on that great day all of your questions will be answered but it is to Love Our Father God and to trust in Him and believe what he tells us is true for he can not lie
