Here's a salsa dip that I make and get pretty good comments from friends and co-workers:
1 can (depending on how much salsa you want) of petite diced tomatoes. I use Del Monte or Hunts.
1-5 jalapeños to taste.
1 green or white onion to taste. If I use the green onion, I use just the green portion of the stalk. If I use a white onion, I use about a quarter of it, depending on the size and chop it to small pieces.
Cilantro to taste. Either fresh or dried. The dried is easier, but a co worker swore that you could taste the difference. Fresh is probably a little better.
Garlic salt and onion powder to taste.
Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl and taste test it as you go. I usually place small amounts of the ingredients in, then I mix it and try it and I add ingredients as needed.
P.S. I use Tostitos Round chips.

You can get a GREAT spinach dip recipe off the back of the (boxed) Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix. You serve it in a hallowed out round loaf of sour dough bread and it is GREAT!
Also - the recipe below - from my friend Lisa - is loved by everybody who tries it:
Lisa's Crab Dip
Ingredients:
1 pound artificial crab meat
(use real crab meat if you want to go to the poor house - but fakes tastes better for this anyway)
2 packages of cream cheese (8 oz. each)
1cup cheddar cheese - shredded
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
a couple dashes of mustard powder
a couple dashes of garlic powder
3 tablespoons of Worsteschire Sauce
Directions:
Soften cream cheese in microwave.
Mix all in ingredients EXCEPT 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese.
Add the worsteschire sauce gradually
(Lisa always said this was the secret process that made it so good)
Put the dip into a casserole dish
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheese on top
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes

Another twist on the White Elephant game is having all the children bring something from home, an old book or toy or something laying around that they don't want anymore, (no cost) and wrap it and bring they're gift, all the kids sit in a circle with the gifts in the middle. You start with the youngest child or pick one child to start and go around the circle, either they can pick the gift in the middle or they can choose to take a gift from someone else. I'm thinking as I write this though, that if your doing this with small children that might not go so well, so maybe you could put numbers on the gifts and have the kids pick numbers and choose the gifts. I'm throwing the Christmas party for my mom's side of the family and it's going to be huge and I'm grateful for your question, and the answers...thnx!
