I'm getting really annoyed at the amount of cold calling i'm getting at home, and it's getting worse.

I have had a very heated discussion (a vague discription) with a company who have phoned me 4 times today!
This is a mobile phone company and i'm sick of then calling all the time, today i vented my anger but i doubt they will take any notice.

I have always been very careful with which companies i give my number to but it hasn't worked and i get calls every week selling mobile phones mainly but many others too.

With many i just hang up or if persistant i add them to my phones address book as 'sales' but it doesn't stop them ringing.

Does anyone make a phone where you can save these numbers so it gets blocked as soon as they come up? I realise many are computer dialed so it's going to be hard to get it removed from all the phone numbers lists that get sold every day.

I am a member of TPS, not made much diffrence because most calls come from outside the UK.

A reverse cell phone lookup service I have used is http://reversephone.toptips.org

Enter the number in the system and they will tell you a lot of informations about the phone number and the person who owns it.
If they have extra details you will have to pay for the report.
Free reverse phone lookup sites generally don't provide anything interesting. To get further information, money will have to be paid. The free searches do not provide much more than what can be found through the phone book.
The best thing is that you can get informations about anyone!!

Many phone companies offer a service called "call block" which can generally block up to 12 numbers from calling you. The * code for it is *60, but it must be activated on your line.

Rather than the 'phone itself, the service provider can help.

A while ago I was getting what I called "spam calls". BT provide a service where you can block specific numbers (if your problem is from the same source), or you can block incoming calls from "ID witheld" numbers.

Check out the BT website for more details.

ever so often a change of phone numbers is a good way to approach things cold calling as you put it is usually from companies selling their info from products that you inquired about or bought so change your number and give it out to only those you need to be contacted by also keep your number unlisted

The best way of dealing with them is this:
1) Tell them you are unemployed (this scares most of them off)
2) Tell them you will listen to them but for a charge of £10 per minute and you won't listen any more until they make a payment directly to your bank account.

99% of them won't ring again.
