If you settle somewhere in New York or New Jersey, these states are full of enclaves (or ethnic neighborhoods) that help a newly-arrived immigrant adjust to life better in the U.S. For instance, Brighton Beach, NY is heavily Russian, Greenpoint, NY (both Brighton Beach and Greenpoint are in Brooklyn) is heavily Polish, and Edison, NJ is all Indians from India. Try and find people from your native country that have been to the U.S. already and get contacts from them.
Also, you want to be in the US legally I assume. Apply as an exchange student or get a student visa. As far as I know you can apply for financial aid if you have a student visa, but I'm not positive on that. You will be able to work full time and go to school part-time at least. If you live in NY or NJ you will need a lot of money for rent unless you are living wih several other people.
P.S. Don't worry, you had it right with "migrate". That word can also mean to settle in another country. :)

I suggest even you really want to come over here, to take some money and take a vacation for the summer so you can see first hand what the country is like so when you move here it's not as much culture shock. You'd be safest in a state like Colorado or Wisconsin. But For new immigrants I think a traditional boat ride through Ellis island would be a sweet deal. yea but once you get here you'll have to do all the things you have to do to survive without becoming a burden bcus you'll never be appreciated if you are someone who takes all the resources but has nothing to give back. Which means you'll get no sympathy for others and they might not even be very nice. come over with enough to rent your own home or if you are still a student you can probably live in the dorms figure it out with the schools first. Look up a school you like and ask them how you go about getting a student visa and i doubt that many American schools give loans to international students simply bcus if you have enough money to educate your child overseas you most likely don't need the aid. That's been my experience with it so far at least. Unless you work on campus i don't think without the correct papers that you may be able to work anywhere else unless off the books.

where are you coming from? I hope you are planning on coming here and living here legally. I am assuming that you want to immigrate to the U.S, and you have to pick one path that would work for you the best. For most people to start with, tourist, business and student are the most common visas they apply. Depending on where you are from, one can be more difficult than the others to get.
if you want to study here, forget about getting a loan. you are required to provide financial statement proving that you have the money to pay for out of state tuition.
Any of us can only give you bits and pieces of the info you need, go on the uscis.gov site and find out more official info before you make any decision.

Migrate? Are you a bird? I think you should forget it until you realize the word is immigrate. You don't say where you'd be coming from, but you might want to check with an American Embassy. Someone there can answer all of your questions ... correctly! Once you have the info, do what you're supposed to do ... APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP!

The settlers of our u . s . a .'s western states might return and forth in communities (it replaced into safer) in wagons (no autos, duh) on knowns routes.
