Wait? Who Would Want To Wait?
I would be tempted to call immediately afterwards but would most likely wait until the next day - but I would hate every waiting minute of it

my boyfriend said he couldnt wait to call me after he got home, called about an hour after the date

There aren't any specific rules to this in my book.
If I like a girl then I'll call her that night........just to make sure she got home ok. Nothing more needs to be said as you've just spent all night talking and by this she'll know that you had fun and are genuinely thinking about her.

i would give her a call that night to say goodnight. if the date goes good. or you call the next morning to say goodmorning.
